2020 Water Hero - John EckmanJohn Eckman, a life-long conservationist and long time leader with the Pure Water Forum, was selected as this year's watershed hero for his impact and work on preserving and protecting our Shenandoah River watershed.

2015 Water Hero - Laura Naftel

2015 Watershed Hero Laura NaftelLaura Naftel, Peak at the Bay Director, was presented with the Forum’s annual Watershed Hero Award, recognizing her significant contribution to watershed education programming for elementary, middle, and high school students in Rockingham County, VA.

Following the award ceremony, Laura Naftel, Drew Miller (Montevideo Middle School Principal), and two Montevideo Middle School students presented recent Peak at the Bay activities, including a trip to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s educational island on the Chesapeake Bay near Tangier, VA.
